Horseplay on the Front Lawn

By Peg Crist McCloskey

When Peg McCloskey completed her family memoir, she contacted me to create a cover for her book. I knew collaboration and communication would be essential in designing a cover that was just right for such a meaningful project. We decided on featuring the house that she grew up in on the cover, a nod to the history of her family and of the area that they lived in.

I recently had the great pleasure of working with Emily of Starks Design Company. As an unpublished novice author, I didn’t know how to proceed as I prepared my family memoir for publication. But I did know I needed a cover and I knew who to reach out to. Emily was a joy to work with and knew how to guide me patiently through the process of creating the cover from start to finish. Emily’s responsiveness and creativity allowed me to have the cover exactly as I wanted it to appear, and I still receive many compliments on the look. I am very happy to recommend Emily Starks to anyone in the process of publishing a book. She won’t let you down.
